Following the success of the last four years, this workshop for excelling young jazz musicians (ages 14-19) will be held during the week prior to the festival, August 22-26, in the Eilat Field School.
A team of musicians scheduled to perform in the 2018 summer RSJF will form the teaching faculty, offering students daily band practice, instrument study sessions, master classes as well as evening jam sessions. A selected ensemble based on participants of this workshop will perform together with other young bands on stages in the festival site and around the city of Eilat.
Summer Workshop faculty includes: Kurt Rosenwinkel – Guitar, Omer Avital – Double bass, Adam Cruz – Drums , Adam Birnbaum – Piano, Emily Johnson – Vocals, Itai Kriss – Flute, Asaf Yuria – Saxophone
This workshop is part of the RSJF Young Jazz program that was established in order to develop and promote the vision of the RSJF friends association – cultivate the future generation of jazz musicians in Israel. Directed by Yael Hadany and Erez Barnoy, the RSJF Young Jazz program aims to offer budding talents the opportunity to become an integral part of the festival on their way to develop as international artists and to further maintain and expand the tradition of the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat.
