A-long-time-love-story, this is how cellist and singer, Maya Belsitzman, and drummer, Matan Ephrat describe their new show. This is the story of those in a quest for a place of their own in the world who follow the lights and arts of a big city and find what they were looking for in 20th-century classic jazz songs. Cherished and loved songs, such as “In a Sentimental mood”, “At Last”, “The man I love”, and many more, receive a new and refreshing interpretation and a 21st-century adaptation. The regular minimalist cello and drums duo expands here to include a strings trio of viola and two violins as reinforcement.
Belsitzman and Ephrat are collaborating since 2012 and have released four albums together. Their duo performance mesmerizes audiences around the world with the unique combination of vocals, cello, and the sound of the drum. Both sought-after and busy musicians in the Israeli scene, their meeting instigated a desire to create something special of their own. Sharing a deep passion for music and experimenting with new genres and fusions, their joint work merges modern and tradition in a virtuoso and uplifting musical production. In an interview with Mako website, Belsitzman describes how together they form a musical dyad and that she and Ephrat “totally rely on each other, backing each other. Sharing the stage is an amazing feeling.”
